Birmingham Airport
Carillion helped to keep Birmingham Airport working at optimum capacity when construction work was required on two multiduct crossings underneath the taxiway.
The eight-week contract to install the two 65m auger bored crossings formed part of a large resurfacing scheme that we carried out at the airport.
We carried out all works during the night to minimise disruption to this busy airport while working ‘airside’. Careful programming of the work was paramount to ensure that the project was completed on time and that we fully utilised the limited working hours available to us. We need to be able to stop work swiftly when flights were about to start landing each morning and start again as soon as the working window opened again each night.
