M25

Carillion is paving the way for easier journeys across the northeast of London by helping to reduce congestion at Junction 28 of the M25 where it meets the A12.

At peak times, more than 7,000 vehicles travel through the junction every hour. Traffic joining the A12 towards Ipswich has difficulty merging with the huge amount of traffic travelling across the M25 from London, resulting in major congestion and frustration. In April 2006, the Highways Agency awarded a phased Early Contractor Involvement contract to Carillion and design partner Halcrow for the delivery of a scheme that will significantly reduce congestion and delays.

We’re working closely with Halcrow to widen slip roads on the approaches to the roundabout, provide a dedicated left-turn lane between the M25 and A12 and widen 1km of the A12 to three lanes, as well as improve safety throughout.
