Carillion IT Services today announced that it has secured a three year contract with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to provide a fully managed service for the company's communications network, including landline phones, mobile devices and 24/7 remote monitoring of its wide area network (WAN).
SPT plans and delivers solutions for all modes of transport across Strathclyde, in conjunction with its 12 member Councils and industry partners.
The managed service, to be provided by Carillion IT Services, will be delivered to over 700 employees spread between SPT's head office in Glasgow and key transport hubs in and around the city, including the central Glasgow bus station, subway depot and several underground stations.
Carillion IT Services will become SPT's single and exclusive point of contact for any communications related queries, taking over the management of all of SPT's current network providers, including Orange for its mobile devices as well as Thus, BT and NTL for its landlines and WAN. All user queries will now go through the Carillion IT Servicedesk and a dedicated team of voice and data management experts. Carillion will also be responsible for SPT's telecoms billing; providing one single unified bill for its entire communications estate. Carillion will continually monitor and ensure that it is obtaining the best possible rates for SPT's current and future utilisation.
With proactive monitoring of SPT's WAN over the next three years Carillion IT Services will be able to intercept and manage any problems efficiently through to resolution, often before users are even aware of any issue.
"We were extremely impressed with the professional expertise and commitment which Carillion brought to the planned development of SPT's IT and communications systems," commented Dean Drew, Senior Technical Solutions Advisor at SPT. "They understand our business; they understand where we are now and where we want to be, therefore we're confident they're the right partners for us in this project."
Noel McNulty, Managing Director of Carillion IT Services, commented "With our vast experience of managing communications networks and services, we are ideally placed to manage SPT's communications services and providers, with our IT Servicedesk becoming the single point of contact for all its users. In addition, our simplified single billing service will allow SPT to focus on core activities with its costs reduced and communications streamlined."
