The partnership works across the whole spectrum of the professional employment law services, from help lines and paralegal support through to advocacy and specialised strategic advice.

It uses Carillion's managed legal service venture, Carillion Advice Services, in a collaborative and integrated offering with Clarkslegal which could make the market more competitive and effective.

The venture is believed to be the first of its type and is notably different from more common legal process outsourcing solutions, with Carillion Advice Services teams being utilised in direct contact with clients as well as providing back office tribunal and project support.

It brings together the significant experience of Carillion Advice Services' teams in delivering focused, direct-to-client, employment law services with Clarkslegal's leading employment law practice - described by legal directory 'The Legal 500' as rating "an impossible 12 out of 10 for its high levels of business acumen, response times, strength in depth and value for money."

"I would expect to increase the total amount of work we do because the business case behind the concept is compelling ."

- Michael Sippitt, Clarkslegal Chairman

The teams can provide the full range of employment law services, including online services, helpline access, advice and advocacy, due diligence, audits, employee engagement, plus employment relations documentation and strategies.

The combined offering to clients also gives direct access to the Clarkslegal owned HR consultancy, Forbury People, which enhances the package of services available for clients, including HR support services for short and long term tasks and projects.

Richard Tapp, Carillion Company Secretary and Director of Legal Services, said: "This is about building on the strengths we already have in legal services to solve a problem faced by us and businesses like us.

We have already proved that working in such a collaborative and integrated way with Clarkslegal also makes complete sense for both parties, and this venture now means that together we can offer a high quality, audit-tested and cost effective service to others
."

Michael Sippitt, Clarkslegal Chairman, added: "We have highly qualified lawyers across three offices but until now limited low cost support capability within the firm.

This partnership with Carillion Advice Services completes the picture and allows us to increase our resources substantially in an economically effective way.

With this model I would expect to increase the total amount of work we do because the business case behind the concept is compelling and the model we have with Carillion is so scalable
."
