Some of our current major projects include:

  • Abu Dhabi
A new headquarters for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council; the Al Mueera development; New York University campus on Saadiyat Island; Emirates Aluminium Plant.
  • Dubai
Infrastructure works for Dubai Aluminium; construction of residential towers that form part of the Downtown Burj Dubai development.
  • Oman
The Royal Opera House; the Majlis, a new parliament building, the National Museum and Muscat Court Complex; new facilities at Muscat Airport.
  • Qatar
A major phase of the Msheireb Downtown Doha project, which is a mixed-use development comprising retail, commercial, residential, leisure, cultural and community facilities.
  • Egypt
    Cairo Festival City development.

Our joint ventures include Al Futtaim Carillion (active in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Egypt), Carillion Alawi (active in Oman) and a joint venture with Qatar Building Company. These organisations use highly skilled people to deliver projects to exacting quality standards and delivery times.

Sustainability

Our work has a significant impact on the quality of people's lives, not only today, but for tomorrow. By recognising that responsibility, Carillion can live up to the expectations of our customers, our shareholders and future generations.

The benefits of sustainable solutions are commercial and immediate as well as long term. With this in mind we are tackling problems such as air and water pollution, energy use and waste management in ways that deliver best value to our customers.

Decades of experience in the Middle East

Our roots in the Middle East go back to the mid-1950s under the banner of George Wimpey & Co. Ltd, then in the 1970s as Al-Futtaim Wimpey LLC. Further name changes were made in 1994 (Al-Futtaim Tarmac) and again in 1999 (Al-Futtaim Carillion LLC).

Since the early days, we have become a regional leader as a result of our work on land reclamation and industrial and infrastructure projects. We have also created whole new waterfront cities, leisure facilities, retail parks and marinas.

Expansion in Qatar

In 2011 we secured our first contract in Qatar, as part of an 80:20 joint venture with Qatar Building Company. The contract for construction services, which is worth some £316 million to Carillion, underlines the reputation for quality and delivery that we have established in the Middle East region over many decades.
