Codsall to Madeley resignalling

The project covered the design, installation and testing for the resignalling between Codsall and Madeley Junction on the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line.

The work was carried out between January 2005 and October 2006. This was one of the first projects to be let at the level of cost per Signalling Equivalent Unit (SEU) that the Office of Rail Regulation have charged Network Rail with achieving.

Carillion carried out the following work:

    • 34 main signals

    • 14 ground signals

    • 22 point conversions

    • 3 relay interlockings

    • 20km cable route

    • 2 signalling supply points

    • Axel Counters

    • Points Heating

    • Telephone concentrator
