Star City

Carillion helped to bring new life to Birmingham Heartlands, an area just north of the city centre, with the construction of a US-style ‘urban entertainment centre’.

Star City is a £80m family leisure development located just off Spaghetti Junction, where the M6 meets the A38M, the gateway to Birmingham.

As main contractor on the development of the 395,000 sq ft site, we helped to design and build a 30-screen cinema, the largest in Europe, with seating for 6,200 visitors; a large family entertainment centre offering bowling and electronic games; a health and fitness club and more than 20 other entertainment and retail units. Star City also boasts a large number of restaurants, bars and cafés.

The completed development has a value of around £80m.
