Westwood Cross, Thanet

Carillion is helping to bring new life to the Isle of Thanet in east Kent by building and maintaining the new 400,000 sq ft Westwood Cross shopping centre.

Working in partnership with Richardson Developments, we completed the project on budget and five months ahead of schedule, and it is now playing a key role in the regeneration of the area.

Careful remediation work before construction started eliminated the need for imported aggregates and the removal of spoil from the site. This meant we were able to save an estimated 3,000 lorry trips to and from the site, leading to cost savings of over £800,000 and reduced environmental impact.

We’re now managing the centre, providing services ranging from cleaning, security and landscaping to further construction and maintenance and engineering requirements.
