The societal changes and the attitudes of clients, customers, government and investors mean that those organisations that can demonstrate that they can execute their core business in a sustainable and socially responsible way will be the ones that create a long term future for themselves and will prosper.

There is a greater expectation of businesses than ever before to generate wider benefits from their activities and to demonstrate that they have an active part to play in the development of our society.

Carillion has been on a continuing journey towards sustainability since 1994 and is now broadening its view to look at its responsibility to sustainable communities. I am very excited to be joining their sustainability committee at this time.

Those organisations that can demonstrate clearly their contribution to and membership of broader society will prosper in the future.
