POLICY
Definition
We recognise that, whilst a degree of stress can be a positive force for our people, excessive pressures can have a negative effect on health and on performance. We will promote well being and are committed to recognising any negative effects that stress may have on individual members of staff, and to provide suitable support mechanisms for members of staff suffering from the negative effects of stress.
Scope
- All existing employees
- All potential employees
- Workers (as defined by employment legislation, and to include agency temps)
Objectives
- Managing and minimising illness arising from work related stress
- Lower staff turnover, absenteeism, accidents at work and sickness levels
- Enhanced perception of Carillion as an employer of choice
- Adherence to legal requirements
- Creating a positive working environment in which employees feel able to achieve their potential
- Enable employees to recognise barriers to wellbeing in themselves and others and to identify methods for resolution
By implementing this policy we will improve individual and organisational performance.
Principles
- The company will adhere to all relevant legislation associated with this policy.
- The Company has a duty of care to employees under existing health and safety legislation to provide a healthy and safe working environment.
- The Company seeks to create a culture that promotes the well being of all employees.
- The company will provide a mechanism to enable all employees to inform the company of personal and work-related problems which may impact on the workplace.
- The Company has a duty to undertake risk assessments and manage activities to reduce the incidence of stress at work.
- Every employee has a responsibility to ensure the effective implementation of this policy, and to contribute to its promotion throughout the company.
