Position Statement on Waste Minimisation and Recycling

In the interest of sustainable development Carillion will adopt the principles of the hierarchy of waste management in all its business groups, in order of priority we will:

• See to reduce the amount of materials consumed

• Minimise the production of waste

• Re-use whenever possible

• Recycle to optimise the potential of materials and promote the use of recycled materials

• Dispose to landfill or incineration

These objectives will be achieved by:

• An employee communication programme on the use of resources and waste minimisation

• Waste minimisation projects

• Development of sustainable resources for construction aggregates

• Monitoring the production and consumption of recycled materials

• A clear environmental policy on Supply Chain Management
