2003 Target – Develop and communicate the business case for sustainability in Carillion.

Since 2001, with the publication of our Strategy Model, we have been developing the business case for sustainability in Carillion. We believe that addressing our sustainability impacts not only benefits environment and society but also directly improves our business opportunities. During 2003 we identified 4 key focus areas and extended the model to incorporate longer term objectives for 2010 and our 2004 targets, all of which contribute to the delivery of hard business targets.

This can only be successful if we make people aware that there is a business need for thinking and acting sustainably. We integrated this into our internal and external programme of communication tools, for example our newsletter Enviro, ‘Be the Change’ posters and presentations at external events.
