(Taken from Carillion Construction Ltd Conditions of Employment)
If you have a problem that concerns your employment, the following procedure should be followed:
Stage 1
In the first instance, any grievance should normally be discussed between yourself and your immediate supervisor. Every effort should be made to resolve the issue at this level.
Stage 2
If the situation is unresolved, you should then write to your supervisor within three working days stating the grievance and your wish to refer it to a higher level of Management. A meeting will be arranged.
Stage 3
If the issue is still unresolved, you may write you your Area/Contract Manager or Departmental Head, with a copy to the Human Resources Department within five working days, stating the grievance, the fact that Stages 1 and 2 have been exhausted, and the desire to pursue the issue further. A meeting will normally then be arranged.
Stage 4
If agreement has not been reached you have recourse to the next level of senior Management or someone designated by the Management for that purpose. You should state your wish for the matter to be referred to stage 4 of the Grievance Procedure and ask your Area/Contract Manager or Departmental Head to who you should address your appeal. You should submit this in writing within five working days of the stage 3 meeting.
