Stakeholder Engagement
Our Stakeholders
Our business is supported by the communities in which we operate, and we are dependent on the earths cleansing systems functioning well. The different groups that we impact upon, or who affect us are our stakeholders.

Carillion has many stakeholders, some we have direct relationships with through the financial distribution of wealth as part of Carillions operations, while others we have a significant impact on such as our site neighbours, our suppliers suppliers, users of our infrastructure and we also impact the environment through our consumption of materials and generation of wastes.
Our activities to improve our relations with these different stakeholders is presented in the following performance sections:
| Environmental Performance | |
| Social Performance | Employees |
| Communities Engagement | |
| Local employment and training | |
| Suppliers |
In addition to our stakeholders relationships reported on elsewhere in this report we engage with our other stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement Plans
Five Carillion business groups, as part of their 2000 targets, have developed stakeholder engagement plans. The value of these is that we have identified our stakeholders, which enables us to take a pro-active approach in discussing issues with them. Working with other organisations who have different purposes, and yet share a common need to improve quality of life will enable us to develop new partnerships and innovative solutions that will contribute to sustainable development.
Our business group stakeholder plans identify our key stakeholders and programme meetings with them. The plans also set out some of the issues to be discussed with our stakeholders. For example, with suppliers we like to discuss packaging of materials, whilst with clients and designers the topics are likely to be specifically opportunities for alternative design and materials.
This report on our activities will also assist us in engaging with and informing our stakeholders. Our involvement in trade associations or other external bodies enables us to engage in a dialogue with those who are interested in our activities. Surveys and consultations are also used to ascertain our stakeholders views, so that we can better work with them to improve quality of life.
