Biodiversity
Understanding the potential impact of our industry on natural habitats and the wildlife they support has always been at the core of our environmental programme.
We are committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity with a Carillion Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP); this is in line with the government strategy for biodiversity and the creation of a national UK BAP. The key features to be taken into account for a Carillion BAP would be:
1. The continuation of the Carillion Natural Habitat Fund.
2. A full understanding of biodiversity issues at a project / contract level, including the direct and indirect impact we can have on natural habitats through our activities and the products we use.
3. Where biodiversity issues are considered to be important on a project they should develop a site-specific BAP. This is intended to be a simple document but would form an important element of the Environmental Management System.
