Carillion is winner of it’s class – Best Green Company in the UK for medium to large firms and comes 2nd place overall in the Sunday Times Best Green Companies Awards 2008 Carillion has scooped second place overall in the inaugural Sunday Times Best Green Companies Award, in addition to winning the category for large and medium-sized companies with high environmental impact. The awards were presented in London in May 2008 by Richard Caseby, Managing Editor of The Sunday Times, who commented, “Carillion is no ‘Johnny-come-lately’ to the green cause. It has had an environmental policy in place for 14 years, dating from the time when environmental protests about road building and other construction projects started to hit the public consciousnesses. In all, 17,000 employees from the participating companies took part in the online survey, responding to around 50 statements that tested the commitment of both management and employees. A resounding 76 per cent of Carillion employees believed that Carillion practiced what it preached. | |
