Communities
A sustainable business plays an important part in developing sustainable communities. Our people and customers come from local communities which will also provide our future workforce and customers. Economically successful, vibrant neighbourhoods make it easier to recruit people with the skills we need and to find high quality suppliers. Hence we want to be an active member of the communities in which we operate.
Investing in these communities helps us to develop positive relationships with local people and supports our business objectives. We enable our people to contribute time to voluntary activities in the community during working hours.
As a member of Business in the Community’s PerCent Club, now known as Community Mark, we contribute more than 1% of our profit in cash or in kind to community activities.
The value of investment includes staff time spent in community involvement activities or on full or part-time secondments, provision of professional services, gifts in kind, use of facilities and loan of assets as well as financial contributions such as cash donations and payments or sponsorships.
Community Involvement benefits one of the following groups: charities, not for profit organisations representing economically and socially disadvantaged groups, schools and youth organisations, environmental, development and cultural groups, organisations which aid social economic regeneration, campaigns addressing specific community needs and social Enterprise.
