We will work with our customers and suppliers to be best in class in reducing waste, managing use of water and raw materials, and protecting biodiversity wherever we operate.
We integrate environmental management systems (EMS) into our wider corporate risk management structures. We are certified to the ISO 14001 international environmental management standard in the UK, the Middle East and North Africa.
Carillion Canada's Roads Maintenance business in Ontario is also certified to ISO14001. Through this rigorous approach, we can provide assurance to our customers and suppliers. In turn, this creates new opportunities for our business.
We seek to comply with all relevant environmental legislation as a minimum. Where possible, we strive to go beyond compliance to deliver industry-leading environmental performance. We have a Sustainability Leadership Plan and environmental policies to provide a clear framework in which to work.
Our business units use these to set targets through which they
can help us deliver the goals of our 2020 Sustainability Strategy.
Through our wider sustainability governance framework, we monitor
progress month by month.
Our web-based data collection system enables us to collect, manage and analyse sustainability and safety data on a comprehensive Group-wide basis. Reviewing the information month by month, we use it to identify risks and manage issues promptly.
