Supply Chain

From sourcing renewable raw materials to reducing pollution and improving Health and Safety, our supply chain has a significant role to play in helping us operate in a responsible and sustainable way.

Supplier Charter

Our supplier charter highlights what we expect of our supply chain partners and what they can expect from us. This includes a mutual commitment to sustainability improvement and innovation. We also use a supplier accreditation system to assess their performance and commitment to sustainability, before using them.

Sustainable Procurement Policy

Our sustainable procurement policy enables us to continually improve performance by

-

Ensuring all appropriate suppliers are subjected to Carillion’s accreditation process

-

Assessing the Health, Safety and Environmental systems of suppliers and monitoring their compliance with our requirements

-

Working to ensure that our suppliers treat their people fairly and with respect so there is a culture of equality and equity

-

Encouraging and influencing suppliers to investigate their environmental impact, including resource use, waste, energy and climate change

The Sustainable Procurement Task Force - flexible framework

Throughout 2007, Carillion was involved in a major Government initiative, Procuring the Future, Sustainable Procurement National Action Plan. We have adopted the recommendations from the Sustainable Procurement Task Force, chaired by Sir Neville Simms, into our own sustainability improvement plans and Excellence Model.

We helped develop the Flexible Framework for sustainable procurement proposed by the Sustainable Procurement Taskforce. We were delighted to see that our strategic KPI’s model was reproduced in the SPTF action plan “Procuring the Future” and cited as an example of good practice.

The framework has been adopted by Carillion Supply Chain.

We are now working within Level 1 of the framework and plans are in place to achieve Level 2 by the end of 2008.

2007 main highlights of the Flexible framework:

-

Champions established for the main Carillion Businesses to lead Sustainability through the Supply Chain

-

All key Supply Chain people have been identified and trained in Sustainable Procurement and the Flexible Framework

-

Strategy was established on achieving the higher levels of the Flexible Framework over a 3 year period

-

We held Supplier Conferences where our sustainability strategy was communicated
