Sustainability is not a one-off campaign, it is a whole approach, woven into our corporate and business strategy and the way by which we choose to measure our performance. By following our Sustainability Excellence Model we aim to demonstrate an ethical and sustainable approach in everything we do.

We have taken a number of key steps in our journey towards sustainability. We continue to review our activities and are working hard to demonstrate the business benefits of becoming more sustainable in the way we work and in the construction and services we deliver. Sun Diagram

In 2000, reflecting our growing understanding of sustainability, we began to look at how we could become a more sustainable business. To help us do this we created what we called the “Carillion Sun Diagram”.

Sustainability Policy

Our commitment to sustainability is driven by our Sustainability Policy. Developed through consultation and collaboration with our senior managers the policy recognises that Carillion’s work has an impact on all its stakeholders from clients, suppliers, staff and the communities in which we work and live. Sustainability Excellence Model

In 2006 with the assistance of The Natural Step and our internal sustainability experts we developed a “Sustainability Excellence Model”. This powerful tool will guide our progress and measure our sustainability performance across the business. The model has been adopted within Carillion and a baseline score for 2006 established and targets set for improvement in 2007.
