Our flexible working arrangements, underpinned by family-friendly policies, are a key differentiator for us, helping us to remain an employer of choice.
This is evidenced by the fact that the number of women returning to work following maternity leave has increased substantially over the past three years since our flexible working arrangements were introduced.
In 2017 we were named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women for the third year running.
Supporting working parents
Becoming a working parent is an exciting journey with many significant personal and professional challenges. We recognise that working mums and dads make a major contribution to the continuing success of our business.
Established in 2014, our Working Mums’ Network and Working Dads’ Network are support networks for those who have, or are planning to have children.
The networks bring together the working parents of Carillion, to address their concerns, increase engagement and retain and grow our talent.
We want mums and dads to feel engaged before, during and after maternity, paternity or adoption leave, and for them to feel they have the knowledge and guidance needed to succeed in their careers.
“Our Working Parent Networks help us to attract, retain and develop our talent”
The collective voice of our working parent networks has helped to bring about a range of positive changes in Carillion, including:
- extending our UK maternity policy to 12 weeks full and 6 weeks half pay
- developing our flexible working policy to support a better work-life balance
- improving line manager guidance and support for expectant mums and dads, as well as for those on maternity and paternity leave
The networks are constantly improving and we are working hard to develop them to meets the needs of our members.
