The Morpeth Northern Bypass is a 3.8km long single carriageway with a separate combined cycleway/footway. It extends from the north east of Morpeth at the Whorral Bank Roundabout on the A197 westward to the A1 trunk road.

A new interchange is being constructed to create easy access to the A1. The project involves the construction of four road junctions, two bridge structures, two underpasses and one mammal tunnel to be constructed along the route of the bypass.

The project has used 3D technology (including BIM) from design through to construction.
