I originally joined Al Futtaim Carillion in 2012, due to my outstanding and commendable performance in AFC Management, I was transferred to Carillion Qatar for a bigger and more challenging role.
Since joining Carillion Qatar, my role expanded from ICT Engineer to managing and providing full-time support to IT Mobilisation, IT Procurement, IT Assets, IT Helpdesk, IT Telephone and IT Client/Project Requirements and providing local support to twelve site locations.
With time, I successfully began to manage the region with assistance from my line manager. This gave me the incentive to take up the Future’s Programme in order to improve myself and excel within the organisation.
The Future’s Programme is a key stepping stone for career development. It widens your horizons and develops you professionally while you evolve on a personal level simultaneously.
The programme has given me a lot of recognition across the businesses in MENA and the UK; it gave me the opportunity to explore and many things like meeting people of all levels and grades and establishing strong working relationships, working as a team player but also independently without much supervision at other times. It has also given me a lot of learning on how different departments and processes work and the importance of our core value – ‘We achieve together.’
The most challenging part of this programme, is the number of events we are tasked to carry out as a team within the given time scales and meet the expectations of SMT and the Business while inspiring, encouraging and motivating others.
The various training and internal mentor support provided during the Futures Programme will let you think beyond the box and boosts your confidence to face real time challenges. It prepares you and gives you the will to take on things that will make a positive change within the business.
On a personal note, the Futures Programme has changed my perspective on carrying out my job role. I am a good presenter and now look into efficiency, productivity and change that can benefit the business to make it better both financially and ethically.
I am fortunate to be a successful Carillion Futures Graduate and feel I have invested my time in the right place and feel proud of what I have achieved.
I would definitely recommend people in their mid-careers to get involved for a challenging job role and fast track career enhancement.
