We provide airport operators with design, construction and support services tailored to meet their priorities.
We are one of the largest construction and support services companies in the UK aviation sector.
We’ve worked with many of the UK’s major airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, London City, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, and Bournemouth. We have also delivered projects at Royal Air Force bases, plus airport schemes in the Middle East and Africa.
We are experienced in many types of aviation project: aprons, taxiways and runways; air traffic control towers; terminal buildings, bridges, piers; baggage handling; offices, retail and leisure units.
Complete property service
We offer a complete property service, including design, building, civil engineering, maintenance and facilities management. We work with airport operators from the earliest stages of master planning to the fully-developed designs.
We understand the construction challenges in a live airside environment, and this shapes our approach to each project.
At Heathrow Terminal 5C, our innovative construction techniques shortened the programme by three months, leading to savings for the airport and airlines. Our construction and facilities management businesses frequently work together to ensure the smoothest-possible commissioning and handover stages.
Whole life approach
We take a whole life approach. Our expertise in design and maintenance, as well as construction, gives us a real competitive advantage. We know there is no gain from cutting construction costs today if it means higher servicing and operating costs in the future.
Having worked in the aviation sector for many years, we have developed a range of services which can be tailored to support airport operators in the design, development and operation of their airports:
Airport strategy, planning and regulation
Our in-house design agency TPS supports airport operators to develop their master plans and translate them into development plans and designs.
Maximised utilisation of runway and airfield
At Gatwick, we worked with the airport operator to achieve ‘more for less’. Examples of this include our flexural design for RETS and RATS, and our use of lean construction on the North West Zone.
Terminal space optimisation
We understand the challenges of the live airport environment. At Heathrow Terminal 5C, our innovative techniques cut the build programme by three months compared with T5B, bringing savings for the airport and for the airlines.
Minor and bundled projects
We deliver projects of all sizes efficiently. Our bundled assets replacement contract at Heathrow involved over 50 projects ranging in value from £20k to £1.2m.
Maintenance of critical systems
Our maintenance team at Southampton consistently exceeds agreed Key Performance Indicators while still delivering value for money within the public/passenger environment. We are driven by a culture of continuous improvement and flexibility.
Efficient resourcing (internal and supply chain)
At Heathrow, we deliver facilities management services across Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. It’s a flexible and efficient delivery model that is better for business continuity.
