Our support services for schools include:
- health & safety services
- energy management
- grounds maintenance
- capital works
- property maintenance.
Generating cost savings and driving efficiency
Choosing Carillion brings a more efficient approach, saving schools money and time.
We can leverage existing strategic partnerships and industry frameworks to provide exceptional value for money. For example, Carillion has been appointed by Scape Group as the sole provider for facilities management over a six-year period.
Our energy team tracks changes in government incentive schemes and identifies sources of funding in order to maximise carbon reduction and potential financial benefits to schools.
Our work offers schools complete peace of mind, allowing them to focus on what they like to do best: teaching and learning.
Supporting local suppliers
With a network across the UK, our catering service delivers over 32,000 school meals every day within the Primary and Secondary sectors. We pride ourselves on providing nutritious, tasty and exciting dishes, which are created by a dedicated development team and freshly prepared by our onsite catering staff using local suppliers.
We have a strong focus on the use of fresh seasonal local foods, cooked daily and we are proud of the fact that our catering service has been accredited to the British Soil Association Food for Life Bronze.
We believe it is essential that the catering service is an integrated part of the school and the service is tailored to its specific needs.
Our catering teams offer help and support to schools with initiatives such as healthy eating workshops and assemblies, cooking clubs and grow your own initiatives. The produce grown in schools is cooked and served as part of the school meal. We can also provide audits and reporting as needed to meet school requirements.
Education training courses
As a major employer and player in the fields of services and construction, Carillion has a vested interest in contributing to the improvement of the life chances of children and young people by improving the school education they receive and the wider experiences they are exposed to.
We’ve partnered with highly qualified and experienced consultants to deliver education training services to schools and academies in order that adults working with children feel empowered to work effectively and pupils attain greater outcomes as a result.
The courses are chosen according to current need and educational focus, as indicated by school leaders. Each course content is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of those attending so that personal development is enhanced and professional practice within schools is improved.
The courses are delivered termly from a new academy in Tameside.
Developing the CEOs of tomorrow
We work hard to engage with pupils, linking to the curriculum through a range of areas and particularly STEM subjects.
Your Life is a three-year campaign which aims to show young people, especially girls, that the mathematics and science students of today will be the CEOs of tomorrow.
Carillion is the lead corporate partner for the construction and business services sectors and has committed to developing a tailor-made “introduction to engineering and technology for girls” module for schools.
The campaign is supported by government and led by a team of Your Life ambassadors comprising ten of the country’s most successful and inspiring entrepreneurs and scientists, and some of the UK’s leading employers from each sector, including Carillion.
