Building Information Modelling (BIM)
The benefits of BIM are far-reaching. At its core are open standards, collaborative relationships and the transfer of knowledge from one project partner to another.
The UK government mandated that BIM Level 2 should be used throughout its procurement as of April 2016. Carillion responded quickly to put in place all the necessary systems and processes to deliver this standard.
We have provided thousands of hours of training to our people and continue to do so at different levels and we have also supported some through to becoming Accredited Professionals for BIM.
BIM provides a huge opportunity to provide integrated services across the project life cycle.
We have seen several award-winning BIM successes by supporting our partners on projects such as the A1 Leeming to Barton and Sandwell Council’s West Midlands Virtual Hospital.
We are utilising BIM on our major schemes such as the Battersea Power Station development, the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the Anfield Stadium Expansion, as well as across a wide range of sectors including Education, Defence, Healthcare, Infrastructure and more.
We are supporting the UK government’s 2025 strategy with our whole-life BIM approach. We are also beginning to roll out these standards across our international businesses.
