Critical rail infrastructure
In the UK we’re proud to be working in close collaboration with Network Rail, Transport for London and other clients on some of today’s largest rail infrastructure projects helping them fulfil their goal of a more reliable railway for passengers and freight.
We are undertaking substantial elements of the electrification and track renewals programmes for these clients. On Crossrail we are providing mainline rail infrastructure associated with this major piece of civil engineering.
Carillion has delivered multiple rail projects including substantial contracts on HS1 (then CTRL). On the East London Line our main works contract encompassed all the cradle-to-grave aspects of design construction, system integration and assurance that HS2 will need.
We have a long-term rail maintenance contract for the East London Line and we have had significant contracts to remodel Reading & Peterborough Stations.
Carillion has electrified two railway lines in Scotland, at Cumbernauld and Rutherglenn. These lines are both fully operational and passengers are seeing improved services with more reliable, cleaner and quieter electric trains.
We also provide facilities management services to the London Overground network at sites spread across 20 London boroughs, ensuring that all stations on the network are fully operational, clean and safe.
A world-class partnership for HS2
Carillion, Eiffage and Kier have formed a joint venture partnership to support the delivery of the UK’s High Speed 2 (HS2) rail project.
The joint venture brings together three companies with outstanding expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks in Europe, including high speed rail systems and their associated infrastructure.
Customer Experience Management
We are a leading railway Customer Service Centre, providing front-line services to the travelling public for the Arriva Northern and Grand Central franchises: calls, emails, letters, and soon live videocalls from passengers using over 450 rail stations in the north of England. The team also provides an innovative FM management service for the London Overground network.
In Canada we’re helping to deliver a better passenger experience at the Union Station in Toronto in a £360 million revitalisation project.
